Montreal Librarian Uncovers Censored Health Information

Posted on August 26, 2008 - 19:19

Librarian-blogger Olivier Charbonneau has written a post about the refusal of the Harper conservatives to make a report by Health Canada freely-available. Charbonneau says that the report (see below) clearly links global warming to a range of dire health problems. All physicians should read this report.

But Charbonneau isn't the only blogger trying to free the information. A physician makes the
report available on his blog and more information is available at this location and here.

Typically, the United States (US) government does not retain copyright on its publications which automatically are in the public domain with open access upon publication. However, the US government does pressure scientists to release reports that show the government in the best light.

The Union of Concerned Scientists set up a website that documents the type of political interference that is seen in science. Here is an example of how the government interefered with (and played down) a Congressional testimony on the dangers of global warming to public
health.
